Dressing for work isn’t easy! You want to find something that obviously looks good, but also that aligns with your personal style. Dressing for the office doesn’t have to be boring! I did some shopping on the Country Club Plaza to find 2 looks, and multiple pieces that can take you from 9-5 into the weekend.
A blazer or “3rd piece” as I like to call it is the ultimate outfit completer. It is the one piece that will bring your entire look together. When I spotted this cute varsity inspired blazer at Evereve I knew it had to get into my closet. I pictured it dressed up like I am showing it here, but also would look amazing with a tee and jeans. This blazer is under $100, has faux leather sleeves, knit detail, and a slim cut that hits at just the right spot.
You definitely have to take your office culture in mind as you put your work wardrobe together. If you are more conservative you could do this blazer with a skinny black pant and a blouse. For me, as a stylist I can be more creative with my wardrobe. So, I did this super comfortable knit pencil skirt from Michael Stars that pulls on and is ruched down the sides! Super easy and figure flattering! I layered it with a cream tee from Alternative Apparel and just knotted it at the waist to give some waist definition. I accessorized with a gold choker, simple black D’orsay pumps and a black handbag. I let the blazer make the statement in this outfit.
Elyssa at the J.Crew on the Plaza introduced me to their new pant fit called the Cameron. I struggle with pants because I don’t want a full trouser but I always need a good dressier pant. This new cropped, slim fit is very comfortable and flattering. It also comes in a few colors; and in petite and tall sizes. I also love that it has belt loops! I am a shirt tucker, and I do love to incorporate a good belt. It gives you good waist definition and makes you look slimmer.
** A little style tip; you can wear navy with black! If you don’t have a neutral heel, black works just great.
This season it is also all about sweaters AND ruffles. You will be seeing ruffles on everything! This sweater comes in multiple colors and is a nice basic, with a twist that you can pair back to your slacks or pencil skirts for the office. I would also throw this on with jeans and booties on the weekend.
